Five Things Friday!

Today I will discuss 5 random things.

The Business of Losing Teeth

Daelyn has lost three teeth in the past month, so the tooth fairy has visited our house three times. I love creating magic for my littles but this is exhausting, not to mention the stress of switching the money and tooth. I'll save that rant for another day... We keep it simple in our house and it's either silver dollars or half dollars for any of the teeth that come out along with some "Pixie Dust". But I have to say, I do love a the toothless smile.

Daelyn has lost five teeth all together. Right now she has three holes. It makes eating pasta quite hard.

If you can't read the fine print it asks the tooth fairy to write a note back to her... See what I mean? As if being stealthy wasn't enough now I have to write a correspondence back?! The tooth fairy didn't respond and the reason is, unlike the Santa and the Easter Bunny, the tooth fairy doesn't take a night off and is probably too tired to respond to every single child. She has to be in and out.

I grew up with a tooth fairy pillow that belonged to my mom. I would have passed it down to my littles if I still had it... so instead I made pillows for them. So far I've only had to make two but I know Cam is going to need one in the next year.

Friendships

My daughters have some amazing friendships. They are the type of girls that build each other up and support one another. I am always amazed at the little ways they think about each other.

At Christmas time this year Jayden lost a jingle bell earring at recess. Her friend spent her entire recess helping Jayden search. They came up with nothing. So my heart melted when I saw that she had bought Jayden new Jingle bell earings to replace the lost bell.

I chat with her mom on a pretty regular basis, and I'm always hearing stories about how concerned her daughter gets about something that had happened at school to Jayden. It makes me happy that Jayden has someone in her corner when she's away from me.

It warms my heart. It makes me happy that someone has her back but also that she is teaching my daughter how to be a kind human and friend. The thoughtfulness from an 9 year old has taught me something about being a good friend as well.

Her friend used her allowance to bring a piece of Hawaii back to Jayden. She was so happy!

No more baby girls

The time has come for my little Camryn to start Kinder. She will be following in her sisters footsteps and joining the Spanish duel immersion community! It's so strange to see her as an elementary aged little. All I am saying is watch out world!

My oldest started this program four years ago when Camryn was 2 years old. Now we come full circle and she will be starting next year. What happened to my little Cam?!

Cheeeese!

I thought I would throw something more random to the mix. If you like spicy and you like regular pepper jack do yourself a favor and try Tillamooks Hot Habanero Jack Cheese. As a general rule for the Hurst House Tillamook is the only acceptable cheddar and Jack cheese. That totally sounded like a commercial and I'm sorry. But it's true. We love it!

Yum.

The doll Business

My daughters all have American Girl Dolls. If you have daughters or are a woman of a particular generation you know what they are. I chose to buy them over the Target My generation dolls mostly because I wanted one when I was kid. I don't do many things like this, but this was one thing I knew I would spend money on if I had little girls.

Cut to three years later and we have ratted hair. Le Sigh... So I spent an afternoon watching youtube tutorials on how to help restore the hair. I included the video that helped my daughter and me fix the doll hair. The girl that does the video is from AGsnapshots on youtube. The narrator has to be in her early teens but she sounds adorable and Jayden loves watching her videos. In Jayden's words, "She's really cool mom!"

I didn't take a before picture of Kieliegh's hair but here is the after. Kieligh is in her undies because she also had a magic eraser bath. And she's a doll...

Star's hair is a textured curly hair... unfortunately the only advice they give for taking care of this type of hair to to NOT BRUSH IT. Well clearly my Daelyn did and was left with this mess.

I had to very carefully brush the knotted mess out before I could do anything with it because it had gotten so bad.

After! Again with the undies... she had a magic eraser spa treatment as well.

Happy Girls! And of course since their dolls got a flat iron treatment so did they.

*We didn't use hair conditioner on the dolls we used fabric softener. That was a tip I saw somewhere else. Also I'm working on getting Daelyn's doll back to the tight curls she once had, but like I said there isn't much out there for textured doll hair. Again, can I just say this girl sounds adorable!
